Originally built in 1917, Hermann Lofts was one of the original Houston loft conversion projects first opening its doors to residents in 1997. The 32-unit downtown loft building was named after the great Houston philanthropist George Henry Hermann. It was last used on a full-time basis as a headquarters for the Salvation Army. The 8-story, yellowish-brick building has a green cast-iron canopy covering the entire front sidewalk and numerous details dating back to the building's original form. Hermann Lofts is featured on the National Register of Historic Places.
